At Tuesday’s media availability, Southern interim coach Fred McNair answered questions before his team’s upcoming contest against Alcorn State.
Before joining the Jaguars' staff, McNair was the head coach (2016-23) for the Braves following a standout college career as a quarterback for the Braves. From the sidelines, he led Alcorn to a 47-33 record, four SWAC East Division titles and two SWAC championships (2018 and 2019). He also earned SWAC Coach of the Year honors twice.
McNair fondly remembers those days at Alcorn State (3-6, 2-3 SWAC), but isn’t allowing any reminiscing to get in the way of preparing Southern (1-8, 0-5) for a win at 3 p.m. Saturday in Lorman, Mississippi.
