FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Construction on houses for the City of Fort Wayne’s new development project officially kicked off on Tuesday.

The A Lot to Love program focuses on developing vacant, City-owned lots into affordable housing.

Mayor Sharon Tucker joined developers on Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the beginning of construction for the project’s first two homes, at 2806 Fox Ave. and 3311 Smith St.

“It’s exciting to see the enthusiastic response to A Lot to Love. This program has so many benefits – it provides new opportunities for emerging small-scale developers, offers affordable options for entry-level homebuyers, puts vacant lots back on the property tax rolls and helps strengthen neighborhoods.
