RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Young voters turned out for Tuesday’s election, with many citing social media content and key policy issues as driving factors in their decision to vote.

“It’s been a privilege to be able to vote, to be able to go out and something close on campus is also a big push for that,” said Aide Lette, a University of Richmond senior.

Lette said content from both political sides appeared in her social media feeds, prompting her to research candidates independently.

“Abortion, immigration, all of those things are just very heavy topics not only on our campus, but the world. So I guess, that’s just something I wanted to hear about before I went out and vote,” she said.
