CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - Voters are hitting the polls at a higher rate than expected. Several precincts across the region are reporting about double the number of ballots compared to the last governor’s race in 2021.
Chesterfield County is reporting significant turnout numbers, with nearly 85,000 people casting their ballot during early voting. According to the registrar, the numbers are fairly close to the presidential election in 2024.
“We have the six satellite locations more people are taking the opportunity to vote before election day. That is increasing the voter turnout which I think is excellent,” said Missy Vera.
Henrico’s registrar is also reporting higher-than-normal turnout.
