NEW YORK (PIX11) -- While Wednesday is slated to be the warmest day of the week, heavy wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour could hit New York City starting Wednesday evening.
A high wind watch is in effect from 9 p.m. on Wednesday through 8 a.m. on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
The damaging winds could lead to downed trees and power outages, according to the NWS.
City officials are urging residents to secure loose objects outdoors, including patio furniture, trash receptacles, and decorations.
Residents should also charge electronic devices in case of potential power outages.
If you come across downed trees, tree limbs, or power lines, call 311 or 911 if there is a life safety situation.
