NORTH CHARLESTON — A 76-year-old woman who died over the summer in filthy conditions with maggot-infested sores was the victim of neglect, according to detectives with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office who now have charged two people with her death.
One of those arrested is Kevin Carl Clark, 40, the son of Dianne Clark, who was found dead in a home on Otanto Road on July 29. The second person charged is Victoria Lynn Delaune, 33. Both were arrested Nov. 3 and are accused of neglect of a vulnerable adult resulting in death.
An autopsy on Aug. 4 showed Dianne Clark had a Stage 4 bedsore on her lower back, according to the arrest warrant affidavit. The cause of death was sepsis caused by an infection of the bone or bond marrow because of that bedsore.
