A sparkplug on offence from the very start of the League2 Northeast women’s season, Sudbury Cyclones striker Cassidy Brooks was recognized this week as Forward of the Year, as well as winner of the Golden Boot with 12 goals and a first-team all-star.
A native of Belfountain, Ont. and a standout at Nipissing University for four seasons, Brooks signed on with Sudbury’s inaugural entry in the semi-pro loop and became the first player to score a goal in League2 play in a win over Pickering FC this past April.
She went on to record three braces and a hat trick, with highlights including the tying and winning markers in a 2-1 comeback victory over Simcoe County Rovers FC on July 5.
