BOZEMAN — The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office says one of its longtime detention sergeants has died after he was accidentally shot.

The agency said that Sergeant Michael Flohr was found dead on Saturday, November 1, 2025, in Magpie Gulch in Broadwater County.

A GoFundMe account created to help Flohr's family states:

It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic passing of Michael Flohr. Michael was hunting with a partner and when they were storing their firearms in their side-by-sides one disharged, killing Michael. This GoFundMe has been created to provide a way for friends, family, and the broader community to support the Flohr family. Donations will help ease the financial burdens they now face and allow them the space to grieve and heal.
