Alberta’s chief electoral officer is requesting the legislature committee reconvene to reconsider his office’s supplemental funding request after only being granted a fraction of the asking amount.

Gordon McClure spoke before a legislature committee on Monday morning requesting $13.5 million in supplementary funding for his office to address the two citizen initiatives and two recall petitions that have been approved and are actively in progress.

“We face significant budget shortfalls as five events that were previously only possibilities are shaping up to become realities,” McClure said.
