COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Do you think you are seeing smoke in Colorado Springs? Crews say a project to reduce wildfire risk is underway in Blodgett Open Space.

On Tuesday, the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) said firefighters have received multiple calls for smoke investigations in the area of Blodgett Open Space, off of West Woodmen Road in northwest Colorado Springs.

CSFD’s Wildfire Mitigation Section is reportedly working on a project to reduce wildfire risk in the area and to protect it from the possible spread of fire.

According to CSFD, the machinery being used in the area for the project is producing dust in the area, which community members are most likely seeing.

While the project is underway, the community is asked to only call 911 if they see an active fire.
