ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The sound of Christmas is back in Central Louisiana as the Salvation Army kicks off its annual Red Kettle Campaign.

This year’s goal is $93,000, with every dollar staying local to help families in need. The money raised goes toward food, shelter, utility assistance and Christmas toys for children.

Leaders said more families are asking for help this year, especially with higher costs and the holiday season approaching.

Roy O. Martin, CEO of RoyOMartin, said his family has supported the Salvation Army for generations, and he encourages others to do the same.
