One person is in custody after an hourslong barricade situation at a home in Kansas City, Kansas.
Officers with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department responded to a home in the 1400 block of Oakland Avenue around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on reports of an armed disturbance. Advertisement
The reporting party told police that an armed person entered his home and was holding his adult son "against his will at gunpoint," police said.
Officers responded and began negotiations, leading to the safe release of the victim.
Around 1:45 p.m., the KCK Special Operations Unit entered the home and took the suspect into custody.
Along with facing "numerous" felony charges in connection with the disturbance, the suspect was wanted in connection with a homicide in Kansas City, Missouri, police said.
