LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Multiple authorities are responding after a UPS plane crashed near Louisville's international airport on Tuesday.
A large plume of smoke could be seen on traffic cameras south of the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) just before 5:30 p.m.
On social media, Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) said multiple agencies are responding to the scene near Fern Valley Road and Grade Lane.
LMPD said injuries are reported but no further details were shared.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said preliminary information shows UPS Flight 2976 crashed after departing Louisville SDF around 5:15 p.m.
"The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 was headed to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu," the FAA continued. "The FAA and NTSB will investigate."
