FOXBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — The Massachusetts State Police is still searching for the driver who hit and seriously injured a construction worker on the highway in Foxboro early Monday morning.

The construction worker, identified by family as David Wachinski, was hit by the vehicle while retrieving a sign from the beginning of the detail setup.

Troopers applied a tourniquet to Wachinski's lower leg to stop the bleeding before first responders rushed him to the hospital.

Though Wachinski is "expected to survive," Massachusetts State Police emphasized that the "impact of his injuries illustrates the danger of failing to drive with care in and around work zones."
