The New York City mayor’s race is about to draw to a close.
Voters headed to the polls Tuesday to decide an array of city-level elections headlined by the contest between Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa and Andrew Cuomo, who is running on an independent line.
The polls will remain open until 9 p.m. — and then the counting begins.
The city Board of Elections is expected to post results from the early-voting period and most absentee ballots soon after voting concludes, while in-person votes cast on Election Day will be tabulated through the night.
The results will determine whether New York City will be led by an upstart democratic socialist who decisively won the Democratic nomination, a former governor attempting a political comeback after resigning
