NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- The Museum of the City of New York is preparing to host its fourth annual Gingerbread NYC: The Great Borough Bake-Off.
This year's theme, "Iconic New York," invited bakers to reimagine a building, place, or thing that represents the heart of their neighborhood, community, or borough; from brownstones and bridges to bodegas and ballparks.
Confectionary creations on display include everything from a replica of Edgar Allan Poe's Cottage to a miniature reproduction of the Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.
"Some bakers come in and their displays are already created, drop it down and sprinkle a little sugar. Others are in here and spend a lot of time in here -- for 4 days -- putting it all together," Jerry Gallagher of the Museum of the City of New York said.
