Frank Lampard demanded more attacking speed from his Coventry City players at the break and stood back and watched them battle back from a goal down to beat Sheffield United 3-1 at the CBS Arena.

But the Sky Blues boss couldn’t hide his relief when the third goal went in deep in stoppage time as the home side desperately defended their slender lead in the final 15-20 minutes of a highly competitive match between top and third from bottom.

“I thought we were okay, played pretty well, had a lot of possession in the game,” said Lampard, assessing the first half which saw them trail to a Sam McCallum goal from a corner.

“I thought their threat was, as is, good at set pieces and they scored from one. They were also good at transition, have good individuals in their team and they’re no mugs,
