WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Hundreds of students in Sedgwick County came to Wichita on Tuesday to learn more about careers in public safety and service.
Representatives from the Red Cross, law enforcement, prosecutors and other professionals gave presentations to the students.
Organizers said the event gives students a realistic look at jobs that will allow them to give back to their communities.
"I know how important it is to have a purpose in what you do every day, how important it is to give back," said Terri Moses, director of safety and environmental services for Wichita Public Schools. "And a lot of the people that work with me feel the same way, and we want to give the students in the Wichita/Sedgwick county area an opportunity to see the variety of ways they can give back."
