Sergei Murashov started Tuesday by celebrating a league-wide award. Right afterward, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s emerging star in net was headed to Pittsburgh.
Murashov was named AHL Goaltender of the Month for October shortly before it was announced that he was being called up to the big club because of an injury to Pittsburgh’s Tristan Jarry.
Early season injuries in Pittsburgh have cost Wilkes-Barre/Scranton some important pieces to their hot start to the season. Murashov wasn’t alone in making the trip across the commonwealth on Tuesday as NHL veterans Danton Heinen and Ryan Graves were also recalled.
The trio is a replacement for Jarry and wingers Justin Brazeau and Noel Acciari, all of whom were placed on injured reserve. In return, Pittsburgh sent back former first-round pick defense
