SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Monday night, Nov. 3, city council approved the Rental Inspection Pilot Program.
"We feel great. This is a huge win for renters, property managers and future homeowners alike," said renter Daniel Behlman with Springfield Tenants Unite.
To test things out, the program will focus on the West Central neighborhood for 18 months.
City council chose West Central for the pilot because it has one of the most nuisance properties.
"I don't have any objection to rental inspections," said President of the Springfield Apartment and Housing Association, Megan Creson. "I am concerned about the costs."
Creson has rented out properties for 20 years. She says she's concerned the pilot program doesn't target the problem landlords.
