This week, Opposition Leader Sussan Ley — although “leader” and “opposition” feel like pretty nominal designations right now — may be looking forward to a time after politics, where she can do something easier and less hazardous, like chainsaw juggling.

With the Nationals announcing on Sunday they were abandoning their commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, Ley was left with the choice of watering down the Liberals’ climate targets, or facing the possibility of a second Coalition split in less than a year.
