If you had told me five years ago that I wouldn't just be living on the coast of Southeastern North Carolina, but also covering the news there, I would have been shocked.

I grew up in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Back then, I thought I might spend my entire life there. But as I got closer to adulthood, I found myself wanting a change.
