The outcome of renewal levies for six Stark County school districts could have tough financial implications if the taxes are not approved Nov. 4 by voters.

Voters in Fairless Local, Canton Local, Louisville, Sandy Valley, Massillon and Jackson are deciding ballot issues. None of the proposed levies will increase tax bills.

Ohio lawmakers are prohibiting emergency and replacement levies after this election.

If the levies are rejected, school officials are unclear how they will move forward. The money generated supports general operating expenses, mostly salaries and benefits.

Many of the levy requests seek to renew emergency levies.
