LE ROY, Ill. (WMBD) -- The Le Roy School District is creating maps of its school in order to help first responders respond to emergency calls quickly.
"When we have emergencies and when EMS or first responders arrive, A lot of times it's hard to direct them where to go or to know exactly how to spot the people that they need to help. This will give them direct GPS locations to know where to find people," said Jeff Baughman, superintendent of the district.
The school district is collaborating with the McLean County Emergency Telephone System (ETS) Board and Western Illinois University (WIU) to create these maps. The maps are funded by the Illinois State Police, totaling around $160,000. The best part is that the maps are free of charge to the school district and are easy to make.
