According to a post on Boardman Movies 8's Facebook page, the second-run theater will permanently close its doors on December 31.
The news was shared via a video posted to its social media page , thanking the community for the last 11 years.
"We tried our best to keep things inexpensive," said Paige DeCiancio, choking back tears, who co-owns the facility with her father, Brian DeCiancio.
She cited the competition from modern theaters, which offer reclining seats and alcohol, as one of the reasons for the closure.
DeCiancio thanked the community and their employees, saying, "We tried our best for you guys."
She also invited patrons to stop by next season at the Skyway Drive-in in 2026.
Boardman has two other movie theaters, but Regal Cinema South is for sale as well.
