VERNON TWP, Ohio - Voters in Vernon Township within Mahoning County voted to pass an increased replacement levy for its fire and EMS services.

The issue was voted on during the November 4 general election ballot regarding the proposed 2.5 mill levy for fire and EMS, which would be in place for a continuing period of time until it is voted to be removed.

Final totals came out to 159 votes to pass the levy, and 106 votes not to. The levy passed with 60% of the votes in favor of its passage.

The township currently gets its EMS services from Johnson Township, with taxpayers paying for one half and the township paying for the other half out of the general fund.
