COLUMBUS — The Bowling Green State University women’s soccer team defeated Miami (Ohio) in penalty kicks Tuesday to reach the championship match of the Mid-American Conference tournament at Historic Crew Stadium.
After playing to a scoreless tie, BGSU edged No. 2 seed Miami 4-3 on penalty kicks. The sixth-seeded Falcons will take on top-seeded Western Michigan, a 1-0 winner Tuesday over No. 4 Ball State, at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the championship. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
Bowling Green went first in the shootout. The Falcons’ first four shooters — Emme Butera, Minah Syam, Emma Stransky, and Ellie Pool — converted their attempts.
