PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Attorney General Peter Neronha said Tuesday night he is "optimistic" about reaching an agreement to keep Roger Williams Medical Center and Fatima Hospital open, but said it will require complex negotiations over the coming days.
Neronha spoke to 12 News by phone from Dallas, where he attended a key court hearing in the ongoing bankruptcy case of Prospect Medical Holdings, the California-based owner of the two hospitals.
"I understand people are concerned, but we're not at the tipping point," Neronha said. "We're in an important moment, but things went well today and I'm optimistic -- and I'm not always optimistic. … We made a lot of progress today."
