HARTFORD, Conn. — A woman who died after a fire at a multi-family home in Hartford last week was identified Tuesday.
Aida Shaikh, 58, died after the fire that took place on Elliott Street on Oct. 27, according to Hartford District Fire Chief Mario Oquendo Jr.
Hartford firefighters responded to the fire in the city's South End neighborhood at 10:35 p.m. They found heavy flames coming from the first floor of a two-and-a-half story multifamily home.
The fire had already extended to the second floor and roof, according to Oquendo. Firefighters used multiple hose lines to knock down and extinguish the flames.
One man was taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation, treated and then released, Oquendo said.
Oquendo said the cause of the fire remains under investigation as of Tuesda
