James Shepherd holds an early lead in the Newnan mayor’s race, according to unofficial results released Tuesday evening.

As of 7:42 p.m., Shepherd had received 46.40 percent (1,425 votes), placing him ahead of Danny Beck, who has 30.74 percent (944 votes), and incumbent Mayor Keith Brady, who has 22.86 percent (702 votes).

In the Newnan City Council races, Jennifer Cheever Morrison leads in District 2, Post A with 65.91 percent of the vote, while Scott Berta is unopposed in District 2, Post B and has received 800 votes.
