1Woman knocked unconscious in Halloween costume attack at DC Metro station

WASHINGTON, DC – A woman was hospitalized after she was struck multiple times in the back of the head during a sudden assault inside a downtown Metro station just after midnight on Saturday.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the victim and her friends had just exited a train at the Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter Station in the 700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue NW around 12:25 a.m. when they were approached by a group of individuals mocking their Halloween costumes.

One member of the group came up behind the victim and struck her several times, causing her to lose consciousness. The assailant fled the scene immediately after the attack.
