MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Kiwanis Club’s 70th annual Pancake Day event served to improve the lives of children and those in need in Ouachita Parish and Northeast Louisiana. The Kiwanis Club supports the community by giving back to the unfortunate.

The Greater Ouachita Kiwanis Club president, Jana Nelson, says their mission is about supporting the local community, giving kids what they need to have to grow.

“The organization, the volunteers that is dedicated to improving the community one child and one community at a time and we support children everywhere from premises, coming home from the hospital in car seats, all the way up to high school students.”

Last year, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Ouachita gave over $24,000 to children’s organizations, scholarships and nonprofits.
