HAMMOND, La. —

A Hammond teenager has been arrested for bringing drugs to campus.

Ryan Brown Jr., 17, of Hammond is charged with one count each of possession of schedule II drugs, violation of drug-free zones, resisting an officer, and obstruction of justice. Advertisement

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, they received a tip about suspicious activity involving a group of students that led to deputies searching through Brown's belongings.

Deputies said Brown ran from them and got into a car that was being driven by another student in the school's parking lot.

Brown allegedly threw several packets of pills out of the car. A field test confirmed traces of opiates, heroin, and possible fentanyl.
