ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WTNH) -- The No. 1-ranked University of Connecticut Huskies women's basketball team was victorious in its first game of the 2025-2026 season against the No. 20 Louisville Cardinals, 79-66.
Forward Sarah Strong led the Huskies in points with 21, she also recorded seven rebounds and four assists, tying for most assists with forward Serah Williams, who led the team in rebounds with four.
Guard Azzi Fudd scored 20 points and recorded three assists and two rebounds in 38 minutes on the floor. Kayleigh Heckel scored 14 points and recorded two assists and two rebounds during 23 minutes off the bench.
Louisville forward Laura Ziegler led the Cardinals in points and rebounds with 16 and 18 respectively, also recorded two assists. Guard Reyna Scott led the team in assist
