RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A Raleigh woman was arrested Monday on a felony charge after her infant child suffered internal bleeding over the summer, a warrant shows.
According to a warrant filed by the Raleigh Police Department, 34-year-old Sara Ivy Austin is accused of "aggressively" shaking her three-month-old child, causing brain and eye bleeding.
Austin is charged with intentional child abuse with serious physical injury, a felony offense, according to the warrant.
Records show Austin made her first appearance in Wake County Court on Tuesday afternoon. She was given $100,000 secured bond.
Austin is scheduled to make her next court appearance on Nov. 25, according to records.
