ATLANTA — Both Georgia and Georgia Tech got a clearer picture of where they stand heading into the final stretch of the season after the first batch of College Football Playoff rankings were released on Tuesday night.

In the latest AP poll , Georgia stayed at No. 5, while Georgia Tech fell six spots from No. 8 to No. 16 following their first loss of the season to North Carolina State on the road.

However, despite the rankings today, both teams still have excellent chances to make the College Football Playoff, even with one loss a piece. Georgia would still majorly benefit from beating Georgia Tech in The Benz on Black Friday, just because they may not be guaranteed to play for a conference championship game.
