The first set of College Football Playoff rankings were released on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

While the first rankings ultimately won't mean much in Week 11 with plenty of season left, it can give teams a look at what needs to be done to become a contender during the final stretch of the season, heading into conference championships.

The US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 gave fans some idea of what to expect for the playoff rankings, but ultimately, the 12-team field is determined by the CFP committee and its view of the quality of the team, strength of schedule and more.

Ohio State ― the defending national champion ― is widely expected to be the No. 1 overall team, while Indiana and Texas A&M are expected right behind them as undefeated teams.
