On Election Day, voters in Mesquite will decide whether to pay for new police officers and firefighters and improve roads.
PROPOSITION A is a tax rate election that gives the residents of Mesquite the opportunity to help guide the community’s future by voting on several community priorities including streets, fire and police, according to the City of Mesquite website.
Because additional revenues are needed to accomplish the community’s goals, state law requires Mesquite voters to approve the tax rate since City revenue will increase by 3.5% or more over last year.
According to the City of Mesquite, voter approval of Proposition A will provide revenue for the approved budget that allocates funds for:
