The city of South Haven is looking to do some improvements at its ice rink.

At a meeting this week, the city council voted to declare its intent to issue bonds of up to $2.6 million for the upgrades. City Manager Kate Hosier told members due to the design of the rink, a large amount of gravel has to be hauled in each year. The coming improvements would avoid that.

“ What the DDA has done is they’ve gotten a feasibility study done for redoing the pavilion underneath so that we can encapsulate the chilling coils within concrete, a nd then we would no longer have to bring in all these yards of gravel that we have to bring in and then take away,” Hosier said. “ So this would al
