ROCKFORD, Ill. — An 11-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after a 13-year-old girl was shot inside a home on Harlem Boulevard on Saturday night.

Investigators say the shooting happened around 7:55 p.m. on November 1st, 2025, inside a residence in the 1000 block of Harlem Boulevard. The 13-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police say the suspect, who was known to the victim, was located Tuesday in Machesney Park and taken into custody. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and authorized charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and an outstanding warrant. The boy was lodged in juvenile detention.
