PERRY, Ga. — Randall Walker has won the Perry mayoral election , securing a second full term in office over challenger Chris Smith.

In an interview during the race, Walker said he is proud of the way his administration has addressed growth in the community in recent years.

"The growth was coming whether we were ready for it or not, and we felt like it was really critical that we get prepared for that," Walker said.

Despite that growth, Walker said he is committed to preserving the character of Downtown Perry.

"It is the heart and soul of the city of Perry, and we need to protect that asset," he said.

Walker graduated from Warner Robins High School in 1964, and earned business management and marketing majors from Georgia State University.
