John Damsma is leading in the race for a vacant position on the Firestone Board of Trustees in early results Tuesday.
As of 7:45 p.m., Damsma was leading with 46.3% of the vote. Damsma is running against candidates Samantha Meiring and Michael Malek. Meiring had received 37.3% of the vote and Malek had received 16.4% as of early Tuesday night results.
Damsma was a Firestone trustee from 2016 to 2017. He currently serves on the Firestone Planning and Zoning Commission, a seven-member advisory board to the Board of Trustees.
The town of Firestone chose to hold a special election for the vacancy created when Trustee Linda Haney stepped down in May. In July, the Board of Trustees approved a resolution stipulating that the vacancy would be filled through a Nov. 4 special election instead of
