EUGENE, Ore. – Seven months after CAHOOTS services ended in Eugene, the city still hasn't found a true replacement for the vital community service.

Even with Eugene Police, Eugene-Springfield Fire and even Lane County Health And Human Services all stepping up in place of CAHOOTS, the City of Eugene says there are still crisis response service gaps.

On Nov. 3, the city released an alternative response service gap report outlining what areas the city still hasn't been able to fully replace, since ending its contract with CAHOOTS in April.

The report identifies five key areas.

Mid-acuity behavioral health incidents (24/7 coverage)

Non-emergency transportation and destination coordination

Low-acuity social service calls

Youth crisis response

Aftercare and proactive outreach (harm reduc
