BENTON COUNTY, Ore. - Two mushroom hunters were safely located after going missing in Benton County, according to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.
BCSO officials said that the incidents occurred on Oct. 9 and Nov. 3. The first case involved a 76-year-old woman who got lost while foraging off Highway 34 near Alsea. In the second incident, a 32-year-old man was reported missing near Woods Creek Road outside Philomath. He was found after searchers noticed "HELP" spelled out with sticks on a logging road.
Both individuals became disoriented but were rescued within hours without injuries. The Benton County Sheriff's Office praised the swift response of Search and Rescue volunteers who played a crucial role in these operations.
