LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – Voters in Lawrence County on Tuesday rejected the county’s Developmental Disabilities (DD) levy.
According to unofficial returns, the measure failed by a 5,829-to-4,928 vote.
County officials we spoke with just weeks ago highlighted the importance of funding for their community.
Lawrence County DD officials said current funding does not generate enough revenue to sustain services.
They explained that funding from a previous levy passed in 2006 was at a flat rate, and they haven’t received an increase to help fund the increased demand for their services.
