WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Voters in Hutchinson weighed in on a nearly $110 million school bond during the 2025 Kansas General Election. The bond failed.

If approved, the bond would have funded safety and security upgrades at the district’s elementary schools, built a centralized early childhood center and created a new middle school.

District officials said a new middle school would have brought together sixth, seventh and eighth graders. Currently, seventh and eighth graders attend separate buildings, while sixth graders remain in elementary schools. The existing eighth-grade building would also have been converted into an early childhood center for 3- and 4-year-olds.
