BUFFALO, N.Y. (ABC4 Sports) - Team captain Clayton Keller scored 47 seconds into overtime to lift the Utah Mammoth to a 2-1 win against the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center on Tuesday, putting an end to Utah's two-game losing skid.
Keller carried the puck to the front of the net and slid it into the net five-hole. Mammoth goalie Karel Vejmelka got the secondary assist, starting the play after he gloved an Alex Tuch shot from point-blank range.
"We got better as the game went on," Keller said. "Then in OT, Veggie makes an unbelievable save, and then we go down and I make a nice move. It's nice to just see it go going for sure."
Vejmelka made 17 saves, while the Utah defense held the Sabres to zero shots on the goal in the last 12 minutes.
Nick Schmaltz scored his eighth goal of the seas
