PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. (WMBD) -- On Tuesday, the Village of Peoria Heights Board of Trustees discussed the wording for a referendum concerning the fire department.
No official action about the fire department was taken, but the board decided what to put on the next meeting agenda for a vote.
The board will vote to have the question, "Shall the village of Peoria Heights pay the City of Peoria Fire Department for automatic aid in the following three emergency situations: vehicular extrications, structure fires and cardiac arrests?," on the November 2026 ballot.
Trustee members are also asking for the community's help in documenting the fire department's history through photos.
