DELTA TWP., Mich. (WILX) - Residents in Delta Township have voted against the public transportation millage.
Voters were asked whether to approve a 0.75 mill public transportation proposal, which would have raised just under $1.3 million a year to maintain and expand local transit once state grant funding expires at the end of 2025.
About 53% of voters in the township voted against the proposal.
The millage would have continued Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) bus service -- including Route 3 -- in Delta Township. The current partnership between CATA and the township is set to expire at the end of the year.
When the Delta Twp. Board of Trustees voted in June to add the millage to the ballot, board members said that without this funding, all CATA services will be eliminated,
