WEYMOUTH, Mass. —

A woman from Weymouth, Massachusetts, said she lost more than $30,000 after scammers pretending to be law enforcement officers told her there was a warrant out for her arrest.

According to the Norfolk County Sheriff's office, the victim called the department on Tuesday and tried to continue a conversation with a "lieutenant" about the alleged warrant.

Department officials told her there was no such warrant for her arrest and she was being scammed.

The victim broke down and said she had wired two payments to the scammer in the amounts of $20,500 and $6,500, as well as two Apple Pay payments of $4,500 and $100, according to the sheriff's office.

The victim said she has been talking with the scammer for the last two days about the "warrant."
